Many of our California readers are huge fans of the National Football League, with some considering the San Diego Chargers their favorite team. Regardless of the team, however, each franchise finds itself in the middle of contract negotiations during this time of the year.
The Chargers are currently negotiating with Donald Butler, who will become a free agent on March 11 if the team is unable to step in and make a deal happen. For the Chargers, Butler is a high priority, thanks to the strong performance he put on during the 2013 season. Although the two sides ran into previous issues in an attempt to work out a deal, it appears that talks have resumed and things are moving in the right direction.
Just the same as many other players in the league, Butler has options. Even though he may want to stick around with the Chargers into the future, this is not the way things always work out in the National Football League. He has the right to open up contract negotiations with other teams, as a free agent, to see what would be best for him now and in the future.
There is a lot going on for NFL teams despite the fact that the season is over. Not only is the NFL Combine on the horizon, but free agency is about to start as well. This means that contract negotiations are going to heat up for players, team personnel and agents.
Negotiating any type of contract as an athlete or entertainer typically calls for the assistance of a qualified attorney.
